Analyzing scripts can be daunting. Making “choices” can be paralyzing… but once mastered, your auditions will be undeniable.

With so little time or guidance to prepare you for self-taping or Zoom auditions, you may be feeling lost and disconnected. And right now, after the pandemic and strikes, the Industry not only depends on self-tapes and Zoom auditions to book actors, it needs every actor to show up with confidence, clarity, and leadership. You need to have immediate impact and that requires a different level of exploration.

We’ve created this 5 week bootcamp for 2024 to guide you to make complete sense of the script (or sides), to mine every scene for the clues you need to make bold, definitive choices, and to then fully embody- and even elevate- the material in order to make undeniable self-tapes. This is a new exciting intensive, led by BGB Master Teacher Corey Parker, along with Casting Director/teacher Seth Caskey, giving you the tools, the structure, and the leadership to take command of any piece of material.

And then… to let it all go!

First, there is the script. The words, the world, circumstances, story, relationships, characters, genre, all the landscape on the page to explore. There are so many questions, and we’re excited to show you how to dig deeper into every scene, to keep asking compelling questions, to sleuth the script for information, to then go beyond what’s on the page, relying on your instincts and imagination, and to bring it all together into actual “choices.” It’s incredibly exciting to weave together your rich emotional life, impulses, and imagination with a powerful investigation of the mysteries of the text, and then to organically allow it all to live inside you with trust so that you can show up in the story in real time, fully dropped into the moment, all cylinders firing.

Corey and Seth takes you inside the laboratory, investigating all possibilities, building and then dismantling any scene, creating a structure and then bending it, so that you can show up in your self-tapes and Zoom auditions/callbacks with the full force of your talent and have lasting impact.

It’s so doable and we’re excited to show you how!

The work...

Some of what you'll be working on over the 5 weeks includes:
- Strengthening your Self-tapes
- Live Zoom auditions
- Guest Star/Recurring roles
- Series Regular roles
- Pilot audition prep

You’ll work on Zoom in order to keep you connected to self-taping and what auditions feel like in the virtual space. Each week you’ll get real-world input and tackle all of the audition and self-tape challenges and pitfalls, along with learning ways in which to make full sense of the scene and then free your work to show up fully on-camera. The material you work on will be a variety of scenes chosen by you and your teachers. The work will be recorded and sent to you for your PRIVATE review.

A note from Corey:

"Script Analysis, or ‘script breakdown’ is your personal key to approaching, understanding, connecting with, and bringing to life the characters in their worlds. I started training with teachers from the Actors Studio on script breakdown from the time I was a teenager in NYC and I studied this work for decades. I’ve used these tools to coach actors on Broadway, TV, and film. I’ve spent years as an actor and teacher honing skills that I can share with other actors who want to learn this work. Our job as actors is based on the material we are given. The writer has placed many layers of clues in there. Our job can go beyond simply memorizing the words so that our work can be lifted to the level of artistic and industry success (as we see in the awards that are given every year). But how do we unlock the material? How do we find our way in? How do we discover the layers hidden in the writing, and how do we find what we need to trigger our own imaginations, our own talent?

Script work truly is like detective work. Start by asking questions. There are clues in every scene and in every script, and we look for these clues. The exciting part is that we learn not just by thinking but by doing. First, we find clues, then we act. We play, we explore and we make discoveries. We ask questions and go deeper into the material. The scenes are meant to be acted, so script analysis opens the door to making choices, getting on our feet, and finding what truly brings the scenes to life, along with what humanizes the characters and what shows the actor’s ability. My goal with actors is for each one to flourish, become more confident in their technique and their ability, and to come ever closer to their creative potential. I truly enjoy sharing the tools I have because they unlock the work, the audition scenes, and the work on the set and on stage. They empower the actor and open to door to infinite possibilities. I look forward to seeing you in class…"

"Corey is a terrific teacher with a deep understanding of the craft of acting. He’s able to communicate - in very precise and supportive ways - ideas and methods that allows the actor to form deeper, more truthful connections to material. The results are fantastic."

- David Goldman, Fresh Off the Boat

“Corey Parker’s instinct, support, and expertise as a coach have been invaluable to me as a working actor. I strive to always be a student of the craft and he always takes me to a new level of specificity. He has been instrumental in my preparation for character work and for script analysis. Corey always helps me find the truth. His coaching has been a blessing to me.”

- Annaleigh Ashford, Masters of Sex

"I’ve worked with Seth privately for a couple of years now. He is the absolute best collaborator! Seth has a gift of making actors feel seen and their work appreciated. When I’m getting in my head, he guides me back, to trust my instincts and let go! To play! I’m beyond grateful for Seth and have grown as an artist/human as the result of our time together."

- Nicole Pierce, Good Trouble

"After surviving a brutal pilot season, I took Corey’s class to find whatever it was that I thought the casting directors and producers and network executives weren’t seeing in me. Pretty quickly into the class I realized that they weren’t seeing me because I wasn’t giving them me. I was giving some bizarro version of the me I thought they wanted. I will forever be grateful to Corey for showing me how to bring myself to the material, and ultimately, the joy back into my work."

- Paulina Bugembe, Marvelous and The Black Hole
