Young Storytellers and Union Rescue Mission (Hide)

December 11, 2019

Over the past few years, BGB members have had a steady involvement in helping out at Young Storytellers, a non profit which helps students realize the power of their own creative voice. By tailoring each program to fit the educational and creative needs of the students in each age bracket, Young Storytellers’ mission is to aid young people in exploring how their imagination can help impact their own lives, their community, and the world.

In 2019, a group of BGB friends took part in an inspiring Young Storytellers program titled, “Page to Play” where volunteers helped public school 5th graders bring their written stories to life through creating a stage production.

If interested in helping out with one of Young Storytellers’ elementary, middle, or high school programs through mentorship or performance, visit https://www.youngstorytellers.com/volunteer for more information.

Ana Tuazon Parsons had the opportunity of attending a couple Young Storytellers Events this past 2019.

BGB members Ana and Poonam had a blast helping out with Page to Play at Lankershim Elementary.

Speaking of performance; it should be no surprise that our BGB Community can also dance.

For BGB members looking to get involved in a way that allows them to move their bodies and share this joy and energy with kids; Union Rescue Mission allows volunteers the chance to lead classes and teach new skills.

Recently, Poonam and Ana visited Union Rescue Mission where Poonam taught a Zumba and dance class. The kids loved it; they got involved and danced their butts off!
