For the last 9 months, BGB Studio members have volunteered with The Elizabeth A. MacDonald Charitable Foundation (EAMF), coming alongside siblings of seriously ill children. Here’s a testimonial from Natalie, the Executive Assistant at EAMF:

“The Elizabeth A. MacDonald Charitable Foundation (EAMF) is spearheading a movement to bring invisible siblings of seriously ill children out of the background and into the light, so that they can get the care and attention they need. Since 2009, EAMF has provided hope and respite to hundreds of families dealing with the stresses of childhood illness by focusing on the well-being of siblings. Siblings of patients often become an emotional support system at a very early age. We like to provide events where the kids can just be kids for a moment.

EAMF offers two signature programs at 5 Los Angeles area hospitals. We would not be able to provide such amazing programs and events without the support of our volunteers. Fortunately for us, the BGB community has really stepped up and provided EAMF with some amazing volunteers. BGB has done such a great job of sharing our information and creating their own community of people who want to contribute to others. We know many of the actors from BGB are Los Angeles transplants, and love how they want to jump right in to some sort of community service. The BGB Studio is so wonderful at helping their actors find outlets to support others and be well rounded good people. Our group of BGB volunteers have become some of the most consistent people to show up for EAMF, and we are beyond thankful for that!

EAMF also educates and informs parents, healthcare professionals, schools and community organizations about the negative impacts of childhood illness on siblings. We engage in advocacy and policy work to ensure siblings receive the treatment and help they need to navigate through this uncertain period in their lives.
