The Industry will be forever different going forward.

The Industry is coming back and it’s a new world. You have a unique opportunity right now to be inside (and ahead of) the change that is happening as everyone in the Industry finds a new way of working.

The New Work is an essential 8 week intensive that sharpens your practice in doing the kind of authentic, bold, present, and specific work that it’s going to take to move Industry creatives NOW and going forward.

This 8 week class with the amazing Sydney Walsh, along with other BGB Master Teachers is your guide to exercising artistic leadership in your craft and career (in the virtual spaces, in your self-tapes, and in person) so that you’re ready to bring the full force of your talent to your work in this new paradigm, where we are seeing the most beautiful work being done by actors, work that is personal, courageous, and deep. Your work now is to unearth your distinctive voice as an actor (and more), to practice presence on screen, to allow YOU to be fully seen, and to deeply affect your audience, no matter the genre or the platform.  And to make that happen, you MUST show up with artistic leadership!  That is our practice in The New Work, in person as well as online.

These 8 weeks blur the lines between your unique artistry and the often paralyzing confines of the audition process, the new virtual platforms, and the “perceived” Industry (then, now, and forever). Here you begin to let go of old ways and to stretch beyond your comfort zone. In challenging yourself and each other to show up fully each week, you start to embrace the wonderful, messy humanity of every relationship in any scene. You get to claim your voice, your courage, and your leadership- with ease, authenticity, and power!  You connect the joy in your practice and lead with artistic power!

You become accountable to yourself, your practice, and your career, and start to take responsibility for all of the work you do and how you put that work out into the world!

Everything changes the moment you apply!

The work...

Each week you engage in a new way in which to explore your voice, to get personal, specific, and bold, and to challenge your resistance. Facing your fears and your resistance (now more than ever) is a big part of pushing through to absolute, unapologetic freedom in your work.

Your 8 week journey includes assigned scenes, material you bring in, audition/on-camera work- including a unit on self-tapes, along with scene work and some writing- to bring you closer to a more connected, powerful relationship with your work. From your work on camera in person and on Zoom, your clips are sent to you to continue your exploration.

You will do most of your work in-Studio in the physical space at BGB in North Hollywood. 1 class will be online via Zoom. It’s time to come back to the work you love, no matter where it happens. It’s time to always work at a championship level!

This class is not an audition or employment opportunity and there is no suggestion or guarantee of an audition or employment as a result of taking this class.

"Love, love love The New Work. We wrote and directed each other and critiqued our work. I learned so much. It's more well rounded than I've ever experienced before. I am a different actor today because of these 3 insightful, caring teachers. Thank You BGB!!!"

- Nancy B. Berggren, KIDDING

"The New Work completely rejuvenated my approach to the work and brought me back to life during this difficult time. It solidified the innate necessity for human connection and ignited that, even while we are apart, we can still, and need to, create together. I left the class inspired and activated to fight for our art, for it is essential."

- Samantha Beringer, NASHVILLE

"Sydney continues to light my fire and charge me up. Like an Olympic coach, she gives you the support and offers adjustments that take your work to a new level while celebrating the humanity of each character that is written in a scene. My artistic appetite has grown tenfold since being a part of the BGB family. I can’t wait to continue to grow as an artist, a professional, an actor, and as a person with BGB.”

- Michael Druck, Casting Director

"I highly recommend taking this class with Sydney. She taught me so many valuable skills that I now use in my auditions. AND THE BEST PART IS, I’VE BEEN BOOKING! Thank you Sydney for being such a generous teacher."

-Kimberly Ziler, DANNY DOOM

Being in class and community with Sydney and my classmates is, hands down, the best part of my week.  But if anyone out there reading this is on the fence about BGB, I urge you to give it a try. It's changed everything for me. Being able to connect and respond as a human to another human in real-time, whether in person or on Zoom is everything. It's fulfilling and restorative, and coming off of isolation, it's the antidote to stagnation and fear. For me, being in class at BGB is an act of radical self-love. Sydney's the real deal and I always find something new as an actor and human under her guidance. ❤
